It’s that time again – the 5th Annual Georgia Legal Food Frenzy is in full swing from April 18th – April 29th.
What is the Georgia Legal Food Frenzy?
The Georgia Legal Food Frenzy is an annual competition between Georgia law firms, legal organizations, and law schools. Each participating firm or legal organization raises food and funds during a two-week period that benefit that organization’s regional food bank. In this competition, every $1 donated equates to 4 pounds of food. The organization that raises the most pounds (based on a per person average – attorneys and staff) will be awarded the prestigious “Attorney General’s Cup.”
Why does Fulcher Hagler participate?
The food and funds we raise will directly benefit our local food bank, Golden Harvest Food Bank. Fulcher Hagler has been a long-time supporter of Golden Harvest. For 11 years, our partner Robert Hagler served on the board, and he is also a past chairman. Our partner John Price is currently serving as the treasurer.
Apart from loving every opportunity we get to support Golden Harvest, we participate in the Food Frenzy because it brings the legal community together. It is rare to see all lawyers and legal organizations in Georgia working together for the same cause, and we love being a part of that. It is also a great way for us to give back to our community in a practical way. We see the hunger problem in our community, and want to help solve it. Every dollar donated to Golden Harvest provides over $8 worth of food to families in need. Any amount can make a HUGE impact!
Which food items are most needed?
While the physical weight of food is important in the Food Frenzy competition, it is more important to consider which food items are actually needed. Donations statistically decrease in the summer months, so it’s important to stock the pantries of families in need with foods that are sustaining and rich in nutrients. These items include canned fish and meats, peanut butter, whole grain pastas, cereals, and rice, along with dried or canned beans and vegetables.
