Sam represents small businesses and lower middle-market companies in the healthcare, manufacturing, construction, and services industries, often serving as an outside general counsel for companies without an internal legal department. Sam assists clients with business formation and structure, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, contracts, operations, regulatory compliance, commercial real estate leasing and acquisitions, and commercial disputes. He takes the time to learn about his clients’ businesses and goals so that he can be a partner with them in the long-term growth of their businesses – not just answer their legal questions.
Before coming to Fulcher Hagler, Sam served for almost eight years as a Judge Advocate in the United States Marine Corps. During this time, he gained extensive litigation experience as a defense counsel, military prosecutor, and Special Assistant United States Attorney. He also served as deputy general counsel to the commander of the Marine Corps’ largest air base on the East Coast. Sam is an Augusta native and is a “double-dawg,” having attended the University of Georgia for undergraduate studies and law school. During law school, he was a member of the editorial board and notes editor for the Georgia Journal of International and Comparative Law and served as the President of the Military Law Society.
In his free time, Sam enjoys spending time with his family, grilling and cooking, and trying to get in the occasional golf game. He is a member of the Richmond County Exchange Club and serves on the Board of Directors for the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce. He also continues to serve in the United States Marine Corps Reserve as a judge advocate and civil affairs officer.
